Mode of action: The additive and synergistic effects of bioactive compounds from oil macerates, essential oils of selected medicinal plants and honey in the selected proportions acts as follows: accelerate the healing of wounds, restores the broken bone, and tendons damaged due to sprains and strains, promotes the formation of new cells and re-epithelization of the damaged tissues, prevents the development of inflammation, allows fast removal of bruises and haematomas, prevents wound infections by bacteria, fungi and viruses, has antimicrobial and antiviral activity in case of already infected wounds. The main wound healing and anti-inflammatory mechanism could be explained by interaction of bioactive components of the extracts with host membrane signaling pathways that promote the synthesis of collagen fibers and anti-inflammatory proteins trough numerous cascade reactions. Consequently, it results with wound closure and re-epithelization of the damaged area and decrease of inflammatory skin changes. Another anti-inflammatory mechanism could be explained by the inhibition of host membrane signaling pathways, and consequently the inhibition of the synthesis of pro-inflammatory mediators. Furthermore, the above mentioned plants macerate in the combination with essential oils showed a strong antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral activity against wide range of pathogens and acts by preventing uncontrolled growth of the pathogens that can cause infection and also serve as natural preservatives in the ointment.
Indications: Bioapifit® wound healing ointment is intended for administration to humans and animals in the following cases: for the application on the open fresh and chronic wounds (pressure ulcers, leg ulcers) and fractures in order to accelerate the healing and to prevent the development of the infections; for the treatment of wounds following the surgery, childbirth, radiation therapy, chemotherapy; for the treatment of burns; for the treatment of abscesses; for the treatment and prevention of pressure ulcers and venous ulcers; for the treatment of hemorrhoids.
